Champagne Rose

It's widespread to feel that all glowing wine, which includes a pink to red shade is referred to as champagne rose. Because each use grapes fermented in oak barrels and have that distinct bubbly look when you open the bottle, it is but regular to conclude that all sparkling wines are champagne. The principal difference lies in the method of carbonation. Whilst it's true that champagne can be a sort of sparkling wine, the carbonation procedure follows the traditional way, having it undergo a second fermentation in its bottle.
Champagne roses have colors which assortment from orange to deep red depending to the variety of grapes used and also the technique of processing. The processing could be categorized into 3 kinds namely: pores and skin get in touch with, saign?e, and blending. These processes are basically carried out to give the reddish shade with the wine just before it undergoes the 2nd fermentation for champagne creation.
Pores and skin contact is probably the most popular procedure of attaining that pinkish shade that champagne rose exhibits. The rose coloration is accomplished by letting the red-skinned grapes stay in contact with the juice for a number of days after crushing. It really is then pressed along with the skins are removed. It's in contrast to the process of making red wine exactly where the grape skins are integrated within the fermentation procedure. The coloration of the champagne is determined by duration of time the skin is left in get in touch with using the juice.
Soigne (bleeding the vat) in contrast produces that pinkish colored champagne rose as being a by- item of red wine creation. In red wine production, to improve the tannin and colour, pink juices are eliminated at the early stage of fermentation. These pink juices removed are fermented separately to create rose wine. Wine makers call this method bleeding plus the colour of the champagne is dependent around the time body more than which it is conducted.
Blending since the term connotes is creating that pinkish shade of champagne rose by blending white wine with red wine. This is the least popular way of making champagne rose. Although in Champagne, France some wine makers uses this technique, high-end producers would instead make use of the soigne technique.
Champagne rose is produced by way of a 2nd fermentation process which infuses the carbon dioxide that makes it bubble. Other sparkling wine infuses it with carbon dioxide using comparable techniques as in making soda pop along with other carbonated drinks. This helps make champagne a special glowing wine.
The taste of champagne rose is based on the kind of grape kinds employed. Differences in taste are also decided by which procedure was used to make it. Normally, it's got fruitier aroma with a taste that's richer and bolder in comparison to ordinary champagne. This tends to make it an ideal wine to get a vast selection of meals that consists of spicy Asian cuisine. It also results in that romantic ambiance throughout dinner dates or unique events. In fact, Champagne rose can be a favored wine the world over on romantic Valentine dinners, motivated through the way French people today - both males and women - fall in love!

Spanish Wines valentine

Spanish wines go as far back as three thousand years to 1100 BC. Phoenecians planted the first vineyards within the Sherry area of Andalucia. Nowadays, Spain has been capitalizing on its extensive winemaking traditions as well as exceptional vineyards. And excellent Spanish wines are making their way to America.
What set Spanish wines apart from some others are its local grape varieties from numerous locations in Spain. There are numerous mountain ranges up to 11,420 feet. Spain is the second most mountainous region in Europe. Down the middle of the county is actually a significant dry table terrain known as the Meseta that have altitudes which range from 2000 to 3300 feet. The continuous sunshine throughout Spain raises the sugar levels in wine grapes that will give finished wine beverages an exceptionally high alcohol level.
Spain has a great deal of indigenous grape varieties, with more than 600 types grown all over Spain. As more wine consumers become aware of Spanish wines and breakthroughs are produced in viniculture, the scientific research, production and research of grapes especially for producing wines), the recognition of Spanish wines will certainly increase.
Americans, who definitely have demonstrated their appreciation for wines with significant fruity taste, as typified by California zins, will explore the vibrant taste in Spanish reds. But Spanish wines are tinged with tannins and sophistication, providing them with a classic style that numerous People in America will be ready to explore.
It is arguable how many native vines are in Spain. Nevertheless natives are the vines being selected and planted. Other European vines are now preferred for grape planting. The Tempranilla is regarded as a staple vine which can produce the deeply tinted, fragrant dinner wines as well as the more common daily reds. The quality Termpranilla is capable of having the aroma of espresso, smoke, chocolates, harvested sugar, tar, or over ripe plums.
Real Spanish wines can be found everywhere and provide an impressive selection. Despite having this high quality, Spanish wines are lower in cost when compared with Italian and French as they are much less well-known. Because a great number of Spanish varietals are such a departure from the envisioned, and for that reason quite a few high quality ones may be acquired cheaper than $12, or even just $10. This has required Spain to alter its wines in order that it can contend with others for any modern-day palate.
Now being appreciated by both the Spanish middle class as well as for foreign trade, wines are increasingly being brought up to date with a focus on fresh variations, fruity, with a smaller amount of aging. Though in the past Spain has been famous for its sherry, reasonably priced, ready to drink reds, it truly is developing and enhancing its wines to accommodate global choices. Rates of merchandise change and even more investment and modernization really should generate final results which will shock the other countries in the world.
Spain concentrates on many different attributes and styles. Toro, in northwest Spain, is rapidly surfacing as certainly one of Spain's greatest red wine regions. Toro's local climate and land are perfect for creating robust, tannic red wines which are mainly with the Tempranillo grape variety.
The popular sparkling wine of Spain is known as Cava which is produced in a similar method as Champagne, but mainly with the regional grape varieties Xarel-Lo, Macabeo and Paralleda. Chardonnay can also be acceptable, as is Pinot Noir. The very best Cavas reveal the yeasty characteristics of Champagne, but have a tendency to be fruitier and more potent and therefore are normally unexpected values.
Spanish wine has awakened from a lengthy dormancy and under achievement. Now, a number of other wine regions in Spain are generating significantly great wines.

I live in St. Charles, MO and I have been making wine in my basement for about 10 years. It's been a fun experience and I love to give bottles to friends. I was able to get my buddy John to start making wine and he enjoys it as much as me. About 2 years ago we turned a hobby in to an internet business and we started a website http://www.TwistedCorkscrew.com which has been fun and successful. We felt we knew a lot about wine but we learn more everyday. We've met great and helpful people along the way and we are having more fun than expected.

Coffee Is Not The Enemy

I have been drinking coffee for over 20 years now, and I feel just as healthy as I did when I started drinking coffee. I also know people that have been drinking coffee for much longer than I have and most of them are just as healthy, but it is not just the coffee itself that people fear. It's the amount of coffee added to the particular lifestyle of the individual person consuming the coffee. Coffee itself does not create problems within ourselves and some people do abuse coffee, by consuming more than their particular body can handle or make it too strong and that may be harmful, causing the heart rate to temporarily accelerate. But keep this in mind, if we abuse anything, eat too much of anything or drink too much of anything, it will cause the human body some type of abnormality, and coffee is no exception to that rule.
Coffee is not the enemy, if we live healthy lives. The body cannot survive on coffee alone, because it lacks the potential nutrients that the human body needs to survive. Despite the antioxidants and energy production of coffee, one must consume other foods and beverages that are healthy for the body, not only to survive but to maintain a healthy life. People who consume 3 or 4 cups of coffee per day are not damaging their livelihoods, but people who consume 3 or 4 pots of coffee per day may be damaging their livelihoods, but it's not the coffee itself, it's the abuse of coffee that is damaging their lives. People who consume that much coffee, more than likely, are not supplying the body with the necessary nutrition, which means that they are not eating or drinking enough of anything else.
The only thing that coffee itself may negatively effect is the cleanliness of our teeth and mouth. Coffee can and will temporarily stain our teeth, and if we don't perform maintain on our teeth, they will change to a more brownish color on a more permanent basis, depending on how we drink it. Yet again, many foods we consume have a temporary effect on the mouth, but that's why we maintain our daily hygiene, by brushing our teeth, to keep them from being discolored and damaged. There are other things that we can do to help keep our coffee mouths clean. Drinking water can help or just rinsing with water after consumption of coffee can slow down the staining process. Chewing gum is another way to help keep the mouth clean, works really well. Some fruits have natural teeth cleaning agents within them like apples and strawberries.
All the non-conclusive studies have proven that coffee is non-conclusively bad for you, which means that Scientists believe that coffee may be bad for us, but they can't prove anything. The truth of the matter is that no one has scientifically proven that coffee causes disease or any type of medical condition, though coffee may be harmful to individuals with certain medical conditions, like heart disease, diabetes, asthma, etc..., like many of the food and beverages that we consume, coffee itself is not the enemy! I'm not promoting the consumption of coffee, but if you like to drink coffee, whether for the taste or the energy boost, relax and enjoy for it's not the cause of any particular future problem!

Can You Get Addicted to Coffee?

Are you an avid drinker of coffee? You can't deny the sweet aroma of those roasted chocolate coffee, now can you? If you feel that you are craving coffee more than you think you are, then it is extremely possible that you have become addicted. The first step however, would be to find out if it is even feasible to become addicted to chocolate covered coffee beans.
Coffee is a drink that, as you may know, contains caffeine. This chemical is notable for keeping you awake, making coffee the ideal morning drink for any busy person. This explains why people will often drink coffee late at night when they're working additional or just when they require to stay up.
This can however affect you more than just keep you awake. Roasted coffee is known to be addictive, as some people really feel dizzy and develop headaches when they forget their daily dose of coffee. If this is happening to you, then it could be a first sign that you too, may have a chemical dependency problem.
Like many chemicals that enhance energy and mood, caffeine can have the effect of destabilizing your body's natural homeostasis. That's, it can affect the way your body usually operates. With this in mind, you may develop that unhealthy need for coffee.
Unlike serious additions however, even if you find yourself suffering from headaches on a day you miss coffee, these chocolate covered coffee beans withdrawals will not stay for lengthy. Also, it is rare for a person to develop extensive headaches because of coffee addiction, so all you have to do is have control over your craving.
With this in mind, next time you think of that sweet aroma from those coffee beans, you should think about cutting down on the caffeine. Even though a nice handful of chocolate covered coffee beans or a cup of coffee will provide you with that nice boost of energy, every thing has its price. The healthiest way of staying alert is, of course, and always will probably be, to get enough rest.

Ice Storms!

Freezing rain sounds innocent enough, until it becomes a layer of ice, enveloping every single thing in a heavy, unwelcome embrace.

Ice storms are able to put the life of an entire state on hold, as power distribution is disrupted and often not restored for a couple of weeks. You are left with nothing much to do, other than to admire the cold beauty of ice “kingdom” around you. You turn into a truly “captive audience”.
A week without any power
We all remember the 1998 ice storm in Quebec. Here are some pictures of this devastating event. Over fifty high voltage towers collapsed, one after another. According to wiki “just one quarter of an inch of ice accumulation can add about 500 pounds of weight per line span”.

Close to 1.4 million people in Quebec and 230,000 in Ontario were without electricity. In some cases, people stayed without power for up to six weeks. It was the most destructive storm in Canadian historyThis is a good article about it. Also, for some interesting photographs of a significant ice storm in Spokane, Washington in 1996, see this page.

Ice-encased sea of grass
Mike Hollingshead from Extreme Instability documented the ice storm that happened in December 2006 in Nebraska and parts of Kansas. With photographer’s permission we reproduce some of the most impressive pictures of the aftermath of that storm.

The iconic image of ice-encased blade of grass is well-known. But here is what an ice storm can do with a grass field: turn it into a sea of ice.

The picture above was taken outside the small town of LaFayette, Ohio. It was during a nasty ice storm in early 2005 that had left the whole northwest part of the state out of power for over a week.

The conditions responsible for creating these icicles seem to be similar to the more famous extreme weather occasion on Lake Leman. In fact, these conditions happen throughout the region – the following picture was taken at a lake in central Italy, called Bolsena, in a windy area 100km north of Rome:

Lake Leman has an icy touch
Technically, not an ice storm, but a very impressive accumulation of ice due to the high wind (gusting to 110 km/h) on Lake Leman near Geneva, Switzerland. This has happened 2 years ago and the pictures were widely seen on the internet, but they never fail to fascinate. See more photos here.

The Frozen Flood
The ice encasing these unfortunate automobiles will melt, but the situation could’ve been much worse – like during the flood of Badger River in Newfoundland in 2003. All the flood water froze completely and the trapped cars were sitting in two-meters-deep ice for months:
